Try this with your friends

Boys and girls,
I teach Dyslexia Reading with the Wilson Reader System. I found this awesome sight from GE that allows students to practice what we learned on the computer. You can mark up a word and scoop sentences with the click and drag of the mouse. You can email your drawings to your friends and to your teacher. You can also replay so you can see what you have done.
If you have any suggestions on how else to use it as a teaching tool, please email me.

Here is the link!

5.17 question Student-centered Assessment

Module 5 has helped me to think about student-centered assessment in the following ways:
Student centered assessment helps me prepare my lessons for students who are visual learners, auditory learners, and kinesthetic learners.

By changing the way I teach to take into account different learning styles, I can be a more effective teacher. Likewise, my students are able to get the information from the lesson in more than one way.

This unit has helped me to try to connect with my students in a way that will encourage deeper understanding on my part and on theirs.

Swine flu cancels District Auction

The pandemic swine flue has caused the cancelation of the district surplus auction. Hopefully, I will be able to catch it, not the flu, when they reschedule.

Blog 4.15 How can technology be used most effectively to support and assess student learning?

Technology is no longer the future, it is now. Many of the students in our classes right now are very well versed in the use of technology. Many of our teachers are experts in their chosen field but lack the technological expertise. That is where the value of being able to critically assess what is to be learned and how it can be applied comes in. As educators we can actually teach our students to practice and demonstrate their understanding of what they understand using their technolgy skills.
We have a great opportunity to educate our students beyond anything we have ever done before. Our students have a great opportunity to take that learning beyond the limits of the traditional classroom. Isn't that what we want as educators? To see our students be even more educated than we are?

The posts here are for my Intel Essentials Class

Learning a lot of stuff on the computer is challenging! It is already close to one o'clock. The time really flies when you work on computers. I guess that is why it is so important to have an agenda, a rubric, a plan, a route, a path, a goal, and start stop point!
