1st Peter 4 7to13
7 The end of all things is at hand; therefore keep sane and sober for your prayers.
12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal which comes upon you to prove you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice in so far as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.

Overheard Conversation #51
"So what do we do now?"
"We stay peaceful and watchful. We plan. We reread the book: Who Moved My Cheese?"

Teacher Chronicles by Natalie Schwartz
Natalie Schwartz said...I wholeheartedly agree with you. I’m a journalist, and last year I wrote a book about the multitude of challenges teachers face (“The Teacher Chronicles: Confronting the Demands of Students, Parents, Administrators and Society”). I interviewed more than 50 teachers and heard countless stories about the pressures and demands on teachers. Teachers address the diverse needs of their students, deal with disruptive and disrespectful behavior in the classroom, attempt to cultivate positive relationships with uncooperative parents, deal with politically charged environments, manage heavy workloads, accept inadequate compensation, support students who are facing personal crises.

Overheard Conversation #48
What do you call it? Oh yeah, passive-agressive behavior is passive, sometimes obstructionist resistance to following through with expectations in interpersonal or occupational situations.
Thank you Mr.Wikipedia!
It's where they expect you to put up with a load a crap on the job and like it.
So it's like being married.
Obstructionist? Is that where you block stuff?
I got some blockage right here.
I got some obstruction right here!
I wish I could get rid of some passive agressive behavior in my class.

"Man! They pay me for this! I get to jack a kid up everyday! I walk in and stuff just happens! Gee Mrs. I,
I forgot my pencil today! Well you know what happens now don't you? Yes m'am. I get a detention."
The sweet part is they do it to themselves.

"I don't work for these people. I work for myself. I like what I do."
It was a shock to hear that.
"Don't look so surprised. I'm not blind, or deaf. I know how things run around here. I just try to make it work for my kids and for me."

"What makes you think I work hard for these people? I work hard because while my kids are with me, I want them to be successful. If they are not successful according to the state mandated tests, it is because they chose a different kind of success."
"For some students success is defined as torquing off the teacher, monkey wrenching admin and the system and manipulating their parents. But for every type of success there is a hidden cost. Because no matter what your definition of success, you gotta put some effort into getting what you want."

"What novela did you get your new hairdo from?"
"Maybe it was Amor de Perros."
Laughter.
"A, B, C, D, E, F,GEE...
someone should have told you not to mess with ME."
More Laughter.
"I,m sorry. I just didn't realize you had a forehead."
"That's ok. I have a brain too."
